Editor/Author Biographies
John Grady is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), International Certified Clinical Supervisor (ICCS), Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and National Certified Supervisor (NCC) who has earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Organizational Leadership. A board-certified counselor and practitioner of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dr. Grady specializes in the treatment of trauma-related disorders and addiction disorders. He uses EMDR, along with other evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), to help clients address a range of mental health challenges that include anxiety, mood, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. Dr. Grady's clinical experiences include working at nearly all levels of the Continuum of Care and with most mental health, substance abuse, and dual diagnosis client populations. In each of these levels of care, Dr. Grady has served as a counselor, clinical supervisor, and program director. Workplace settings include community agency, university, and medical organizations. Although he has worked with clients ranging from childhood to older adulthood, Dr. Grady currently works only with adults and older adults in individual, couples, family, and group counseling programs. Dr. Grady's academic journey includes earning an Associate in Arts degree in Liberal Arts/Education, a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Science, a Master of Arts degree in Counselor Education, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Leadership. His dissertation explored how clinical counseling supervisors developed their organizational leadership skills. Dr. Grady has taught in multiple graduate school programs (i.e. Counselor Education, Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness, and Human Services) at prestigious universities (e.g. New York University, Purdue University Global) since 2015 and has also taught undergraduate psychology courses. Additionally, Dr. Grady has co-authored the biography of boxing legend, Gerry Cooney (“Gentleman Gerry: A Contender in the Ring, a Champion in Recovery”).
