Modern technologies such as Big Data and IoT (Internet of Things), among others, have contributed to the generation of electronically shared information at an unprecedented speed. These systems enable organizations to create user profiles, especially for consumers, aimed for the use of marketing services and products. They also provide the information analysis necessary for accurate decision making and significant improvement of organizational performance.

However, these technologies have also caused problems such as information misuse and privacy invasion that must receive the attention of organizations and individuals who do not wish to become involved in problems such as these. As a result, information security, specifically the protection of privacy in personal data, has increased in relevance around the world due to laws, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union and the LGPD (General Data Protection Law) in Brazil. These laws have penalties, such as high fines which may even render the business of many organizations unfeasible.

Therefore, it is necessary to gather the latest studies in information and security management that aim to minimize cyberattacks impacts, among others security problems, and also allows the development of efficient information security projects based on the security pillars and aimed compliance with norms and laws. This handbook compiles this information into one comprehensive source that will be beneficial for consultants, teachers, researchers, managers, security professionals, IT professionals, lawyers and lawmakers, students, and others who are currently working or evaluating new projects which consider information security as potential solutions.
