This book is a collection of lessons learned by community artists and creative arts therapists working internationally to facilitate transformation and change in ideas, in generating understanding between groups of people that are at odds, in confronting political and social abuses of power, and in actively engaging youth in the process of peacebuilding through the arts.

The objective of the book is to present current stories and case studies of community and clinical artists who are working, internationally, to challenge the status quo and invite transformation of communities. This book can explain how identity can be developed through participation in the arts, how we can learn from one another and work together to seek change and betterment. This book brings both Western and non-Western artists together to discuss their experiences in working toward peace through the arts; non-Western voices are often missing from these collections. It will expand the non-medical uses of creative arts therapies and demonstrate ways that clinical and nonclinical artists can work together for change. Peacebuilding literature actively calls on community and clinical artists to write their stories and conduct research.
