Description & Coverage
Description:

The intersection of theistic religion and politics sparks continued controversy, particularly when addressing complex social issues like immigration. When religious ideologies influence political decisions, they can lead to policies that are less informed by empirical evidence and more driven by doctrinal beliefs. The consequences are not only detrimental to the integrity of policymaking but also to the well-being of communities affected by such policies. Critical examination of the impacts of theistic religion on political discourse and immigration is necessary to advocate for improved, evidence-based approaches to policymaking.

Detriments of Theistic Religion in Politics and Its Effect on the Immigration Problem explores the effects of religious influences in government policies related to immigration. Aspects of theology, ethics, and morality related to policy and law creation are explored, along with effective solutions to solve issues of immigration in the Unites States. This book covers topics such as theology, ethics and morality, and political science, and is a useful resource for politicians, policymakers, government officials, economists, religious organizations, business owners, academicians, researchers, and scientists.

Reviews & Statements

Front and center in the media and in the global issues faced by many countries today, including our own, Detriments of Theistic Religion in Politics and Its Effect on the Immigration Problem confronts and addresses the complex intersection of religion, politics, and immigration to offer valuable insights for people in roles that influence broad populations. As nations continue to grapple with natural human biases and limitations of upbringing (or indoctrination) that produce and fuel much pain and suffering, this book explores how religious ideologies negatively shape political decisions—often at the expense of empirical evidence and critical thinking.

Isidoro Talavera is a Philosophy Professor and Lead Faculty at Franklin University (College of Arts and Sciences, Ohio, USA). The focus of his philosophical research is the confluence of applied epistemology, logic, critical thinking, and the philosophy of natural and/or social sciences—emphasizing a call for public ethical and/or critical rational engagement for the survival and flourishing of humanity. Examples of this are his two seminal works published in 2022: (1) The impossibility of a Democratic society: A call for critical thinking in a time of crisis. In L. Harper (Ed.), The crisis of American democracy: Essays on a failing institution. Vernon Press; and, (2) Some problems in advancing academic inclusion: A call for critical thinking. In V. Wang (Ed.), Handbook of Research on Educational Leadership and Research Methodology. IGI Global. Dr. Talavera has degrees in Mathematics (M.S.E.) and Philosophy (M.A., M.A., and Ph.D.). He earned his doctorate from Vanderbilt University with his thesis: Time and the Nature and Possibility of Knowledge. Dr. Talavera’s biblical studies span a period of over 47 years with experience as a minister and missionary in Guatemala where he helped establish several churches and medical clinics—working with Doctors Without Borders in the very dangerous guerrilla warfare years of political upheaval in Central America.
