William J. Austin

William “Will” Austin has served as Warren Community College’s president since 2003. As president Dr. Austin managed a 120% growth in enrollment. In January 2020, the Chronicle for Higher Education examined community colleges based on outcomes and Warren ranked 11th nationwide for student success. As a pre-presidential leader, Dr. Austin authored the book, Strategic Planning for Smart Leadership, and is co-author of the book, Dollars & Sense: A Guide to Financial Security. Additionally, Dr. Austin has contributed to works, such as: “The Provost & President: When Things Don’t Go Well – Four Clues” in The Provost’s Handbook (2015, Johns Hopkins University Press); & “State of Successions” (Community College Journal, 2015). Dr. Austin has served as the chair of the American Association of Community Colleges’ President’s Academy. He also served on the national Board of Directors of the AACC, the Board of Directors of the American Association of University Administrators, and the Board of the Chair Academy. Dr. Austin holds a BA from Loyola University (MD), an MA from Temple University in Sociology, Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, another MS from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Unmanned Systems, a graduate certificate from ERAU in Commercial Space Operations.
