Tze Chin Ong

Ong Tze Chin is a senior lecturer and course coordinator for the Masters of Commercial Law programme at the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya (UM). She is also a research fellow of UM’s Malaysian Centre of Regulatory Studies (UMCORs) and a researcher at the ASEAN Competition Research Centre. She holds a PhD in Law and an LLM from the National University of Malaysia (UKM). She graduated in law with an LLB (Hons) from Northumbria University and was called to the Bar as a barrister at Gray’s Inn, United Kingdom. In 2022, she was appointed as an expert consultant for Consumer Protection in ASEAN (PROTECT) project in drafting the ASEAN Guidelines for Consumer Protection in E-commerce and is the main expert consultant in ASEAN (PROTECT) II Project in drafting the ASEAN Guidelines on Unfair Contract Terms. She is also the Principal Researcher for a research project on competition law and consumer protection in the digital market under the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) funded by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. Her research interest lies in Consumer Protection Law, ASEAN Comparative Law, Commercial Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and E-commerce.
