Tomas Cahlik

Tomas CahlikHe received his degree in Economics from the University of Economics in Prague in 1979, where he completed his CSc. (equivalent of PhD.) in 1984. From 1979 to 1984 he worked as Assistant Professor at the Department of Econometrics of this University. From 1985 to 1992 he worked at the Institute of Computer and Information Science, Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences (CAS), where he headed the Department of Information Systems. In 1993, he became the Director of the Institute of Information Systems of the CAS. In 1994, he joined the Institute of Economic Studies at Charles University- Faculty of Social Sciences where he nowadays teaches “Ethics and Economics” and “Comparative Economics”. Since 2011, he teaches part-time “Econometrics” at the University of Economics in Prague. The main area of his expertise is comparative economics, economic development and growth and analysis of research and development activities. He has had lectures about different economic topics at Cornell University, University of Arizona, Schevtschenko University in Kyiv, University of Cairo, University of Pretoria and University of Cape Town, Waseda University, Doshisha University and Chuo University (Japan), East China Normal University and Fudan University in Shanghai (among others).
