Tamara Gajić

Tamara Gajić was born on June 2, 1977 in Sarajevo. She finished elementary school “Simon Bolivar” in her hometown, and high school “Svetozar Marković” in Novi Sad. In 1996, she enrolled in studies at the Department of Geography, Tourism and Hotel Management, Faculty of Science, University of Novi Sad. She graduated in 2001. He completed his master's studies in tourism management in 2007 (average grade 9.11), and after defending his master's thesis, in the same year, enrolled in doctoral studies at the Department of Geography, Tourism and Hotel Management, Faculty of Science, University of Novi Sad. He completed his doctoral studies in 2010 on the geosciences study program, module: tourism (average grade during doctoral studies: 9.83). The doctoral dissertation, under the title “Management of tourism development in the Juznobacka district”, was publicly defended on June 4, 2010. From 2008 to 2021, she was employed as a professor of vocational studies in Novi Sad. She received the title of scientific associate at the Geographical Institute, Jovan Cvijić, SANU, on December 23, 2015, with re-election on February 24, 2021. years. Since October 2019, she has been engaged as a senior scientific researcher (distance studies) at the Institute of Sports, Tourism and Services of the South Ural State University in Chelyabinsk (Russia). Since 2018, she has been employed part-time as an assistant professor at the University of Business Studies, Department of Trade, Tourism and Hotel Management in Banja Luka. In the period of 2021, she worked at Singidunum University, in Belgrade, and from September of the same year, she moved to work at the Geographical Institute, Jovan Cvijić, SASA, in Belgrade, as a research associate. Since February 2022, she has been employed in supplementary work (30%), at the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism in Vrnjačka Banja, University of Kragujevac. She has participated in a large number of international scientific meetings, and until now she has published manuscripts in international and domestic journals, as well as proceedings of scientific meetings. Tamara is the author of the monograph entitled State and perspectives of the development of rural tourism in the Southbacka district, financed in its entirety by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia. Her research is focused on broader aspects of tourism, hotel industry, gastrotourism, geography, and especially on rural development, agritourism, local economy, assessment of the impact of tourism development, the role of tourism in the life of local communities, spatial aspects of tourism, management aspects of tourism business and quality determinants in hospitality sector. In the period from 2013 to 2016, she worked on the project TEMPUS MHTSPS 544543 (Modernization and Harmonization of Tourism Study Programs in Serbia), as a member of the Steering Committee of the project (544543-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-RS-TEMPUS-JPCR) and coordinator for the Business School of Vocational Studies. Also, she was part of the committee, as well as the mentor of several specialist and final theses at the Higher Business School of Vocational Studies, as well as a member of the committee and mentor of several graduate theses at the University of Business Studies in Banja Luka. She was a member of the commission for the equivalence of study programs, as well as the commission for the defense and evaluation of the final thesis for basic professional studies. She is also part of the committee (commentary) for writing and defending doctoral dissertations for two candidates at the Faculty of Hotel Management and Tourism in Vrnjačka Banja. Since 2017, she has been a permanent reviewer of the magazine Economic of Agriculture, as well as the magazine School of Business (new name - International Journal of Economic Practice and Policy. She has done several reviews for magazines in the category. She is a guest editor of the magazine Frontiers in Psychology (special edition of the journal category, for May 2022, entitled: The Paradigm of Creating a New Environment for Travel Industry Consumers During the Crisis and Instability in the World). She is also a member of the International Board of the CTTH conference (International Scientific Board) - International Conference Contemporary Trends in Tourism and Hospitality, 17-19, November 2022, University of Novi Sad, Serbia. She was also appointed as a member of the accreditation committee of the Master's study at the Faculty of Hotel Management and Tourism in Vrnjačka Banja. She is a member of the Scientific Council of the Geographical of the “Jovan Cvijić” Institute, Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Belgrade (since 2021). She is a member of the Special Expert Committee of the Agency for Qualifications, Government of the Republic of Serbia, (sector 10 Services: subsector 1013 Hotels, restaurants and catering, subsector 1015 Travel, tourism and leisure). She is the mother of four adult children.
