Tahmina Islam

Tahmina Islam is a Professor in the Department of Social Work at Shahjalal University of Science & Technology Sylhet, Bangladesh. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD in the Department of Social Administration & Justice University of Malaya, Malaysia. besides teaching Miss Islam is involved in many voluntary activities in her country. She is an active member of Transparency Bangladesh,(TIB) Sylhet chapter where she is engaged in the anti-corruption movement. Being a social activist as well as a social worker she is a member of different social organizations. She is a motivational speaker, she attend seminars in many schools and colleges to bring positive change among students. and plays a role as a trainer in police service and the social welfare organization. She runs a voluntary counseling center in her faculty for the students. She always raises her voice on issues related to violence against women. She attends many talk shows and radio talks on current issues with mental health. she publishes some articles both in national and Internationally reputed journals. Her research interests are violence against women, couple conflict, indigenous people, mental health and counseling. She obtained her first master's degree from Sahjalal university and then she obtained her second master's degree in Social Work, in the 2007-08 session from Goteborg University Sweden. She is now perusing her PhD on acid survivor women of Bangladesh. her future plan to work more on the issues of acid violence from Universiti Malaya.
