Sumitra Dhal Samanta

Sumitra Dhal Samanta is a public health professional with having twenty years of working experience at National level as well as in various parts of India. She is currently working as a Senior Consultant, Community Process, for Home Based Childcare Programs with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India for more than five years in related policy and programmes. Prior to this, she has working experience with Government of Odisha and UNFPA, Red Cross, LEPRA Society, MAMTA Health Institute of Mother and Child, Micro Insurance Academy and School of Women's Studies-Utkal University in various program and projects related to Public Health issues, Health System Strengthening, Reproductive Child Health, Nutrition, Gender Issues, Community Mobilization, and Policy and Programmes. Academically, Sumitra has done her Master of Public Health (Community Medicine), Masters in Women's studies, PG Diploma in Rural Development, and a Law graduate. Currently, she is a PhD scholar from The IIHMR University, Jaipur, India. She has been a part of many research studies with more than 8 research publications and contributed to many documents related to national policy and programs in Child Health and HIV/AIDs that can be found from MoHFW website. Her interest areas include policy advocacy, reproductive child health, nutrition, gender issues and community mobilization. She believes in consistent and focused effort for social betterment.
