Shaofeng Liu

Shaofeng Liu holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), one of the top universities in system and networking. He holds BS and MS degrees from Tsinghua University. He is now working as a Windows CORE software design engineer on Hyper-V, a core virtualization technology supporting the architecture of future operating systems and Windows Azure cloud platforms. He has carried out research in grid computing, scheduling, parallel fault tolerance, database optimization, machine learning, large-scale data preservation and distribution, and so on. His Ph.D. work breaks through existing bottlenecks of Forward Error Correction code by parallelizing code across data sources and streams, using a creative Cross-Stream code invented by him. He is actively involved in research at Calit2, and works closely with Cinegrid research community and AMPAS to design large-scale data preservation and distribution strategies. He is now an associate board director in Chinese Microsoft Employee (CHIME), and has served as the president of Tsinghua alumni association at San Diego.
