Shanna C. Challenger

Shanna Challenger is an award-winning environmentalist who possesses over 6 years of demonstrated ability and technical expertise working in areas of high biodiversity importance, maintaining pest-free island ecosystems and creating positive environmental change with a wide variety of stakeholders across Antigua and Barbuda, and the wider Caribbean region. Through the prestigious Chevening scholarship, Shanna graduated with an MSc in Conservation Biology from the University of Kent, and she is currently employed as the Coordinator of the Offshore Islands Conservation Programme at the Environmental Awareness Group. For her environmental conservation efforts, Shanna was the 2020 recipient of the Euan P. McFarlane Award for Outstanding Environmental Leadership by the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands, and recently accepted the Young Environmentalist Award at the 2022 Antigua & Barbuda National Youth Awards. Sparking life-changing moments between people and wildlife has always been her life’s calling, and she thrives in finding compelling ways to tell stories that demonstrate the irreplaceable value of her country's biodiversity.
