Shahid Ali

Shahid Ali born in Nowshera, Pakistan in 1975, is currently working as GM Tech/Associate Professor at the National Centre for Physics, Quaid-e-Azam University Campus, Islamabad. He obtained his M.Sc. and M.Phil. degrees in Physics from Gomal University, D.I. Khan and Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad in 1998 and 2001, respectively. He served as a Research Officer for 4 years at Salam Chair in Physics, GC University Lahore, and completed his Ph.D. in Theoretical Nonlinear Physics from Umea University, Sweden in 2008. Dr. Ali also completed his Post-Doctoral Studies at IST, Lisbon, Portugal during 2009-10 and was appointed as a Regular Associate at Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Italy. His research areas include Nonlinear Plasma Physics, Spacecraft Charging and Space Dynamics, Degenerate Plasmas, Magnetic Fields Generation in Laser-produced Plasmas, etc. He has published over 130 articles in International Reputed Journals such as Phys. Rev. Lett., Phys. Rev. B, Astrophys. J., J. Geophys. Res., Phys. Plasmas, etc., and has trained several M.Phil/Ph.D. Scholars in the field of Plasma Physics. Dr. Ali has been a regular recipient of the RPA Awards from the Pakistan Council for Science and Technology for many years and received a Gold Medal in Physics from the Pakistan Academy of Sciences in 2016. He also worked as a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Science and Technology of China in 2018 and as a Visiting Scholar at Khalifa University, UAE, in 2021.
