Shah J. Miah

Shah Miahis a Professor of Business Analytics at Newcastle Business School, The University of Newcastle, Australia. Prior to this role, Shah was an Associate Professor of Information Systems in the Victoria University Business School, Melbourne, Australia and also holds positions of Adjunct Professor of Information Technology in the School of Information and Communication Technologies, University of Fiji, Fiji Islands and in the Faculty of Engineering, Varendra University, Bangladesh; Research Expert at the University of Technology MARA, Malaysia. He is a former academic of the University of Sunshine Coast, Griffith University and James Cook University, Queensland, Australia. Since receiving his PhD from Griffith University in the area of Business Decision Support Systems, Dr Shah has expanded his research interests in the directions of the Business Information Systems (BIS) such as Business Intelligence, Data analytics and Big-Data Analytics. Dr Miah produced over 120 publications including research books, journal articles, book chapters and refereed conference articles. His outstanding and leading-edged research have appeared in top-tier international outlets of the field, such as: Journal of the Association for Information Systems; Information and Management; Knowledge-Based Systems; Telematics and Informatics; Information Technology & People; and Information Systems. Prof Miah has strong track record of research and for that he is well-known for his global collaborations and as a leading-thinker to many industries in which he is effectively assisting practitioners in real-world problem-solving. Before he starts serving for the editorial boards of the International Journal of Business Intelligence Research, he has worked for the Journal of Education and Information Technologies, and Australasian Journal of Information Systems and has led and edited special issues for these journals. He also serves as organising Committee Member, Track Chair, Panel Chair and invited Keynote Presenter at the International academic conferences that are relevant to his field of research. Most of his current research are situated in the areas of business intelligence and information systems field and classified as applied, transformational and industry-leading digital technology design and innovation-oriented research that have been accelerated to reshape his knowledge in continuously improving new market-driven teaching offerings that attract students, having leading-edge syllabus and undergraduate & postgraduate curriculum ideas that drive through the industry-intensive learning and teaching approaches. Dr Miah’s research has attracted many PhD students nationally and internationally and has successfully guided 7 PhD supervision completions in last five years (till 2018) and is currently supervising 12 PhD students. His teaching promotes and addresses both the contemporary and complex socio-technical issues in the areas of business intelligence and information technologies, business analytics design, systems analysis and design, implementation, project management, and business process engineering.
