Piyush Kumar

Piyush Kumar holds the position of Associate Professor in Health and Hospital Management at the Institute of Health Management Research, Bangalore, a role he has assumed since 2020. Since the same year, he has also taken on the mantle of Associate Dean for the training department. In 2021, he garnered further recognition by being appointed as the President of the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) and earning the distinction of becoming a founding member of the Center for Advancing Digital Health, Management, Innovation, Research, and Entrepreneurship (ADMIRE) at IIHMR. Following a substantial tenure in the industry from 2007 to 2019, he decided to pursue his passion for academia. During 2019 to 2020, Piyush served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at Banasthali Vidyapith (university). Additionally, he was entrusted with the responsibility of developing and overseeing the Annual Refresher Program in Teaching (ARPIT) under the purview of the University Grants Commission. Between 2013 and 2019, he held a pivotal role in healthcare consulting as a Program Manager for the healthcare and life sciences practice, covering the South Asia, Middle East, and Africa region at Frost & Sullivan. During the period from 2007 to 2013, Piyush Kumar also made significant contributions to prominent healthcare chains in India, assuming various strategic leadership roles. Furthermore, he headed the medical services division of the 'Buddh International Circuit,' India's sole Formula One racing track. Piyush Kumar's academic journey commenced with the attainment of a master’s degree in health and Hospital Administration from IIHMR University in 2007. Presently, he is actively pursuing his Ph.D. in Management at Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan. His research interests encompass the realms of healthcare management and digital healthcare. Driven by a passion for writing, Piyush has authored numerous articles pertaining to the healthcare industry, which have been featured in esteemed healthcare publications. Additionally, he has presented his research findings at various national and international conferences. His expertise has been recognized by prestigious organizations, leading to invitations to speak at events hosted by the Ministry of Labor in Taiwan, CSR India, and the Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organizations (CAHO) in India. Much of his work has centred around enhancing healthcare management through the application of diverse tools and cutting-edge technologies. Mr. Piyush is credited as a co-author of two notable works: “Implementing Six Sigma to Enhance the Hospital Discharge Process” published in the International Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences Research, and “Innovation in Healthcare Marketing Strategies in India” featured in the Innovative Journal of Business and Management.
