Olga Lyra

|Olga Lyra - Contributing Author|Dr. Olga Lyra is an Assistant Professor at the School of Education and Human Sciences at Frederick University in the field of Special and Inclusive Education. She is the coordinator of the Distance Learning Postgraduate Program of Special Education (Frederick University). She holds a doctorate in Special and Inclusive Education from the University of Cologne (Germany) and a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education from the University of Ioannina (Greece). She has many years of teaching experience in both conventional and distance learning programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the field of Special and Inclusive Education. She has served as an invited assistant professor at the University of Madeira, where she pursued her research interests in the educational and social dimension of inclusion. Her doctoral dissertation focused on the initiation and management of change processes towards inclusive education, where she co-ordinated a two-year research project with a team of educational stakeholders in formal and informal leadership positions. She has numerous years of experience in organizing and coordinating team processes for managing change and professional development in education, as well as writing research proposals both at national (Portugal) and European level (H2020, Erasmus +). Her research interests focus on special and inclusive education, managing diversity in education, changing the way disability is understood and addressed, on self-improvement processes for school units and inclusive school climate, and managing change for inclusive education.
