Michael Walsh

Michael Walsh is a Clinical Associate Professor in the University of South Carolina School of Medicine’s Rehabilitation Counseling program. In addition to his work as a Counselor Educator, Mike is active in the field, maintaining a small private practice serving both families and individuals, as well as providing consulting and training to various mental health, vocational rehabilitation, and other social service agencies. Mike has served with the American Counseling Association in a variety of roles over the years. On the Division level as a two-time Association for Humanistic Counseling division President and AHC Governing Council Member. Mike was awarded the AHC Past President’s Award in 2012 and the Humanistic Leadership Award in 2021. Mike has also been a member of various AHC and ACA Task Forces and Committees. Mike’s roles with ACA have ranged from Co-Chairing the ACA Ethics Committee, to serving on the ACA Governance Committee to a 2020-2021 stint as ACA’s Parliamentarian. Mike has a background in business, including 14 years running a small non-profit mental health organization that specialized in Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Recovery. Mike is also active in Family Systems work, utilizing systems clinically and in other arenas.
