M. Gail Hickey

M. Gail Hickey is Professor Emerita of Education at Purdue University Fort Wayne and a trained oral historian. Her research focuses on contemporary U.S. migration, with an emphasis on pre- and post-migration educational experiences and perspectives. Dr. Hickey is the author of four textbooks, more than 75 journal articles, dozens of textbook chapters, and more than 200 conference papers. She has served as Visiting Research Fellow at the Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race in America (University of Colorado-Boulder), the Immigration History Research Center (University of Minnesota), and the Indiana University Institute for Advanced Study, among others. In addition, Dr. Hickey has been invited to present her research on contemporary U.S. migrants at Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic), the University of Wales (Bangor), Kings College (London), and the Sorbonne University (Paris, France).
