Jean Henry Blignaut

Jean Henry Blignaut , PhD in Curriculum Studies, is a Lecturer at the School of Professional Studies in Education of the Faculty of Education at North-West University (NWU). He has spent the last decade researching and teaching at various academic institutions, including public and private institutions. His previous roles include Junior Researcher, Head of Department for Business and Humanities faculties, Information Technology Programme Manager, Academic Advisor, and Curriculum Designer. In the academic field of Curriculum Studies, he lectures students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in contact and distance modes of delivery. In addition, he is the Programme Leader for the Bachelor of Education Honors within the School of Professional Studies in Education of the Faculty of Education at NWU. Henry has collaborated in writing nine conference papers thus far, all of which have been presented at various national and international conferences. His studies concentrate on the development of educational curricula, self-directed learning and the role of diversity within the classroom. He has authored nine published academic journal papers/academic book chapters since he was appointed lecturer. His most recent publications are: 'Challenges and implications for the implementation of self-directed learning during Covid-19' and 'Learning, teaching and assessment methodologies in distance education research: a meaningful self-directed learning approach'. He also regularly reviews academic journal articles and academic book chapters submitted for publication. 'In addition, he serves as a supervisor for students pursuing master's degrees in education and doctorates in the philosophy of education, concentrating on curriculum studies and self-directed learning.
