Irini K. Zerva

Irini Zerva is an adjunct faculty academic member at Hellenic Open University, Neapolis University and University of Nicosia in the fields of Disorders in written and oral speech, Educational Psychology and Special Education. She holds two bachelor’s degrees from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, one from the Department of Philology with a degree in Linguistics and a second one in Pedagogical Studies at the P.T.DE. of Athens. She also holds two master’s degrees (M.Sc. ) one in Special Education, specializing in Speech Therapy - Counseling and Diploma Thesis in Early Diagnosis of Learning Disabilities and Dyslexia, at Primary Education Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a second one with a scholarship in Educational Policy and Administration at the University of Peloponnese. She holds a Ph.D. in Special Pedagogy and Psychology, specializing in Metalinguistic Skills and their Contribution to Learning from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She is a freelancer Speech Therapist, a Curriculum Advisor at Arsakeia Schools in Athens, an Academic Advisor in Distance Learning Programs of Neapolis University, and a scientific associate of the Ministry of Education in Greece at the Institute of Education Policy (I.E.P). She also served as Vice President of the Scientific Association of Greek Speech Pathologists and Speech Therapists. Research Interests: Metalinguistic Skills, Special Learning Disabilities / Dyslexia, Learning Theories, Written Language Teaching, Language and Communication, Language Teaching, Speech Therapy and Pathology, Special European Education Policies, Special Education, Inequalities in Education, Dealing with Learning Disabilities at school.
