Guillermo Ortiz-Colón

Guillermo Ortiz-Colón , Ph.D., is assistant professor at University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez. His research is focused on the improvement of the efficiency, economic solvency, and sustainability of the Dairy Industry in Puerto Rico. Specifically, is to promote good pasture management, minimize the dependence on imported grain feeds, and increase the percentage of dairy replacements born and raised in Puerto Rico. His research focus is the development of efficient nutritional/management practices than can permit that raising dairy replacement locally would be a better alternative to the common practice of importing heifers from temperate locations in North America.
