G. Venkatesan

G. Venkatesan is an Assistant professor in Civil Engineering Department, University College of Engineering (BIT campus), and Anna University. He graduated in Civil Engineering from Bharathiyar University in the year 1993 and obtained his Master’s Degree in Water Resources Engineering and Management from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli in the year 2003. He has Recipient of Ph.D. fellowship from TEQIP, Government of India and awarded Doctoral Degree by National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli for his thesis “Comparative studies on clay liner with and without microsilica, in permeation of municipal solid waste leachate” in the year 2010. He has been involved in teaching, research and industrial experience for the past 20 years. He has taught more than 20 subjects to under graduate and post graduate students. At present 3 candidates completed and 10 candidates are pursuing their Ph.D. programme under his supervision. He has published 35 papers in International and National Journals and presented 60 papers in Conferences. He published two books. He has carried out funded research project title Studies on structural element by totting tire derived aggregate sponsored by Indian Rubber Manufacturers Research Association (IRMRA), Ministry of Commerce and industry Government He have involved consultancy projects of improvements and Rehabilitation of Irrigation structures in Cauvery Basin- Preparation of Detailed project report(DPR) Government of Tamil Nadu, Air quality monitoring, water and soil analysis clients are WAPCOS Limited, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India, Central public works, CDM smith Ltd. He organized fourteen conferences and workshops and attended seventeen workshops. He has delivered 22 invited talks conferences and seminars. He has been awarded Vishwakarma Award for the category of Academician for the year 2017 organized by Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC), Government of India. Rashtriya Gaurav Award for the year 2015 by the by India International friendship society New Delhi, best research paper on Environmental issues in the Department of Environment, Government of Tamil Nadu state award for the year of 2012. He is Indian Geotechnical Society Trichy Chapter founder Secretary. He is Council Member of Institution of Public health Engineers, India for the year of 2012 to 2018.Ground water Expert published in directory of ground water professionals, Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources. Member in Environmental and Water Resources Systems Committee, American Society of Civil Engineers from December 2005. Apart from regular academic activities he as P.G Environmental Engineering Professor in-charge and Environmental Lab in charge, Staff in charge of Student Association of Civil Engineering, Department coordinator for students curricular activities and motivated many students to participate in conferences, symposia and workshops, Acted as chairman in Anna University central valuation, Member of the affiliation committee Anna University and served as Estate maintenance coordinator in Anna University Regional office Tiruchirappalli. Established in Environmental Microbiology Lab and part of Hydraulics Lab. He was a member of board of studies and member of the question paper scrutiny board Anna University of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. He is fellow of International society for Research and Development, Fellow in Institution of Public health Engineers and Indian Water Works Association. Member in Indian Geotechnical Society, The Indian Science Congress Association,, National Solid Waste Association of India, Institution of Engineers, Indian Society for Technical Education,, Indian Geotechnical Society Chennai Chapter and Charted Engineer in Institution of Engineers (India). His research interest is Solid waste management, Environmental Geotechniques, landfill design and Irrigation water management techniques.
