Fahmi Khalifa

Fahmi Khalifa,, PhD received his BS and MS degrees in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering from Mansoura University, Egypt in 2003 and 2007, respectively. He received his PhD degree in 2014 in Electrical Engineering from Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, University of Louisville, USA. Dr. Khalifa has more than 10 years of hands-on experience in the fields of medical image analysis and computer-aided diagnosis. Particularly, he has extensive experience in analyzing contrast-enhanced and diffusion-weighted abdominal magnetic resonance images. He has developed new probabilistic models and learning techniques for accurate segmentation of diffusion and contrast-enhanced MR images, and new registration techniques for motion correction of abdominal MR images, all of which have been reported in more than 100 peer-reviewed publications appearing in prestigious international journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings. Dr. Khalifa was the recipient of the Mansoura University scholarship for distinctive undergraduate students for four consecutive years. He was also the recipient of the Theobald Scholarship Award in 2013 and the ECE Outstanding Student award for two years in 2012 and 2014 from Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, University of Louisville. In 2014, he was the recipient of the John M. Houchens award for the outstanding dissertation and the second place Postdoctoral Fellow award in Research! Louisville.
