Emília Simão

Emília Simão is a university professor and researcher, PhD in Information and Communication in Digital Platforms, Master in Multimedia, Master in Arts and Degree in Communication. The main research themes are immersive environments, digital culture, media and digital arts, art and technology, human-computer interaction, electronic dance music cultures, retrofuturism and neotribalism vs post-modern aesthetics. Professor in several areas such as new media aesthetics, semiotics, emerging arts practices, virtual languages, human-computer interaction and multimedia, at Escola Superior Gallaecia University (ESG); Polytechnic Institute Cavado e Ave (IPCA) and Catholic Portuguese University (UCP), Portugal. Coordinates ObEmMa - Scientific Observatory of Electronic Music and Media Art - UP (Porto University) and member of CiESG-Arts and Multimedia Research Center (ESG) / CITCEM-Digital Culture Research Department (UP). Published the book Exploring Psychedelic Trance and Electronic Dance Music in Modern Culture.
