Duncan C. Ferguson

Duncan Ferguson received his VMD degree and a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, USA, and is board-certified in veterinary internal medicine and veterinary clinical pharmacology. In an academic career spanning 40 years, Dr. Ferguson has served on the faculties of veterinary schools at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, the University of Georgia, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, all in the U.S. In 1990, he was a co-founder of Veterinary Information Network ( ), the first internet-based consulting and education network in veterinary medicine, where he led the continuing education division. His basic and clinical research research interests are in veterinary endocrinology, and clinical pharmacology. His educational research has focused on techniques encouraging critical thinking and clinical problem-solving. Upon retirement from his academic position in 2016, he founded VetMedAcademy ( ), a not-for-profit educational resource site for veterinary medicine. He also continues educational research with colleagues at the College of Education on the CGScholar platform, with a focus on multimedia clinical case analyses involving peer review and mentoring, supported by artificial intelligence. He has published over 170 research manuscripts and chapters.
