Cavall Jocelyn Moira Barends

Cavall Barends is a Librarian for Faculty of Informatics & Design. Current interests are in understanding analytical insight to the information literacy concepts. Practical approaches on how to achieve an information literate society with specific focus on university students in South Africa. Strengthening skills in teaching information literacy, is important since these are lifelong skills essential to community life beyond the classroom and one of the cornerstones of a democracy is having an informed citizenry. A multi-lingual glossary of information literacy terms was created and published during the COVID-19 period to assist students whose first language was either Afrikaans or Isi-Xhosa. This was made possible with the collaboration of Fundani who assisted with the translations.
