Brian George McMillan

Brian McMillan is a physical chemistry teaching fellow at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. After completing his PhD in 2006, he worked for 10 years as an industrial thin films and coatings specialist before taking up a part-time and then a full-time academic position. He has a keen interest in laboratory education and how students transfer the knowledge gained in the classroom to their work in the teaching laboratory. His previous work in industry has fostered an interest in how students manage the transition from university to the workplace and how industry and academia can work together to enhance student education. He is a Chartered Chemist and Scientist, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
