Alphonse Uworwabayeho

Alphonse Uworwabayeho is a Professor of Mathematics Education in the University of Rwanda-College of Education (UR-CE). He obtained his doctorate of philosophy in education, specializing in integration of ICT in the teaching and learning of mathematics. He is a member of research committee of African Centre of Excellence for Innovative Teaching and Learning Mathematics and Science (ACEITLMS) based in the UR-CE. He is coordinating activities related to (i) the implementation of competence based curriculum at URCE under the ‘Leaders in Teaching Project’ funded by Mastercard Foundation and (ii) Continuous Professional Development on school effective leadership, coaching and mentoring organised for school leaders and teachers conducted by URCE in collaboration with other educational stakeholders. He is commissioner on mathematics education for the African Mathematics Union (AMU). Prior joining higher institution of learning, he was a secondary school mathematics teacher. His research interest lies in teacher professional development on enhancing active learning. Current research projects : • Improving Learning Outcomes in Secondary School Science and Mathematics Through Language Supportive Pedagogy’ ; • Exploring the opportunities for learning justice : A case study of girls’ educational experiences in English medium Rwandan basic education
