Ali A. Alraouf

Ali A. Alraouf is a professor of architecture and urbanism. He is an architect and urban planner interested in research and practice related to architectural, urban, sustainable design and holistic planning. He was a Visiting Scholar at University of California at Berkeley-USA. Alraouf has held permanent and visiting teaching and research positions at regional and international universities. His research interests are: Doha’s urban Model, Knowledge cities, Smart Urbanism and contemporary Gulf cities. He published more than 100 journal refereed papers, critical reviews, essays, in addition to books and book chapters. He delivered lectures and presentations in over 30 countries. He is the recipient of number of awards including Modern Science and Arts University (MSA) Teaching Excellence Award 2004, Best Research Paper in Sharjah International Conference for Urban Planning 2008 and Research Publication Achievement Award from University of Bahrain 2009. Alraouf was selected as member of 2012 Excel campaign at Qatar University. He is currently acts as head of Capacity Building, Research and Development unit in Urban Planning Dept. at Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME). He is also the Chairman of Green Urbanism and Planning Group at Qatar Green Building Council.
