February 16, 2017, Hershey, PA – IGI Global is pleased to announce that the Handbook of Research on Competency-Based Education in University Settings, edited by Karen Rasmussen, Dr. Pamela Northrup and Dr. Robin Colson, recently received an honorable mention from the University Professional & Continuing Education Association's (UPCEA) Phillip E. Frandson Award. Intended for literature in the field of professional, continuing, and/or online education, this prestigious award is presented in honor of the late Phillip E. Frandson, former dean of UCLA Extension and 1977-78 UPCEA President.

The following benefits are awarded to titles that receive an honorable mention:

  • The title will be noted as receiving an honorable mention in an upcoming issue of the UPCEA Briefing, the association’s twice-monthly e-newsletter, distributed to nearly 5,000 members working in professional, continuing, and online education.
  • The book will be celebrated in the print program for the upcoming UPCEA 2017 102nd Annual Conference and in corresponding press releases.

The Handbook of Research on Competency-Based Education in University Settings is a pivotal reference source for the latest academic research on the use of competency-based testing in higher education institutions. Focusing on innovative practices, strategies, and real-world scenarios, this book is ideally designed for educators, students, administrators, professionals, and academics interested in emerging developments for competency-based education initiatives.
