About the Contributor
Alon Eisenstein is an assistant professor of technology, entrepreneurship, and professional development at the School of Engineering at The University of British Columbia (Okanagan campus). With a background in chemistry and entrepreneurship, Dr. Eisenstein champions experiential learning pedagogy to develop entrepreneurial and professional skills in students. Prior to arriving at UBC Okanagan, Dr. Eisenstein led the development and teaching of innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of Toronto’s Impact Centre, with particular focus on using experiential learning and work-integrated learning pedagogies. This included an undergraduate internship-based course for UofT’s students, as well as summer programs for visiting international students. As part of his research activities, Dr. Eisenstein studied the role and importance of critical thinking and entrepreneurial attitude in students participating in his programs. Throughout his work at the University of Toronto, Dr. Eisenstein established a peergroup of educators from across the three campuses whose work is related to work-integrated learning, and in 2019 organized and hosted the first national symposium on the topic of entrepreneurial work integrated learning.
